Please examine closely the Post-it-Note™-style of commentary i've included for you in this illustration. View the image in full-size by clicking the miniature below-- then return to this page for additional commentary, and relevant links to the extensions shown.
For a ‘geeky’ as it might sound, I've felt the urge to exclaim:—"It's exciting!"
Not only is it Lite, it's Del.icio.us Too!
The Del.icio.us sidebar is my own little custom creation. I've got it setup to search only my own bookmarks (versus the default function of the ‘original’ del.icio.us sidebar-- to search everyone's stuff). If you'd like to try, it's really simple to setup-- and requires no real chrome Installation or timely Synchronization (it's just a sidebar panel). Go "make" your own!
Ideally, I'd like to see the Yahoo!® version be setup to work with Seamonkey! :nudge: :nudge: eh, boys? ;-)
Like What you See?
The extensions shown in the illustration are available either directly, or indirectly through the website http://seamonkey.be which is maintained by a team of benevolent developers users† whose goal, it seems, is to create a more robust user experience for people who choose to use the Seamonkey Suite as their browser of choice.
3-way Intimacy to Shout About!
Remember, Seamonkey is not only a browser, but it's a complete "Suite" of software which includes an advanced e-mail client, not unlike Mozilla Thunderbird (which, combined with some of the extensions available at the aforementioned web site, indeed does render Thunderbird a rather optional installation. Seamonkey also includes a Web Development IDE, known as "Composer". Users who may have created some of their first web sites using Netscape Composer-- or anyone who currently uses NVu, or its own spinoff-- Komposer-- should feel right at home using this integrated element of the Seamonkey Suite.
But enough about my rambling! go out there and try some of these add-ons. if you like seamonkey, but you find that you miss the larger selection of extensions available for Firefox, then take a close look at what's changing in the Seamonkey community. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much it has evolved in such a short period of time-- and this incredible evolution seems to be increasing at an exponential rate.
don't miss out on the collection at MozDev! It's linked from Seamonkey.be too, but just in case you missed it...
†This edited to draw attention to the distinction between Users and Developers. this was brought to my attention, when cited by BenoitRen of MozillaZine.org friendly forums. i cannot provide any real statistical info on the matter, but it's an interesting footnote, nonetheless. Thanks BenoitRen!
